The province of Sassari has a unique privilege in Sardinia: it is bathed by the sea on three sides. This means having over 200 km of coastline available, but it also creates a big dilemma for the traveler: "Where do we go today?"
Many tourists make the mistake of betting everything on a single beach, perhaps finding it crowded or windy. The secret of "Locals" (and guests of Villa Malvasio) is to exploit the central position of Sassari to choose the perfect beach based on the wind and the type of day.
Here is our selection of the 5 gems reachable in less than 30 minutes from our property.
1. The Postcard: La Pelosa (Stintino) 💎
It is the beach that made Sardinia famous in the world. Very white sand, water that has nothing to envy to the Maldives, and the Aragonese Tower in the background.
⚠️ Local Tip: Beauty has a price. Access is limited number (book months in advance on the official website!) and you cannot use towels directly on the sand (you need a mat).
- Distance from Villa Malvasio: 35 min.
- Ideal for: The photo of a lifetime (but go at dawn or sunset).
2. The Daily Jewel: Balai (Porto Torres) ⚓
If you are looking for relaxation without stress, this is the best choice. A series of coves set in white limestone rock, with a small church overlooking the sea that makes the landscape mystical. The water is emerald green and transparent.
- The advantage: Easy parking, green lawn to lie down on, and possibility of diving from the rocks.
- Distance from Villa Malvasio: 15 min.
3. The Wild One: Porto Palmas and Argentiera ⛏️
Here we enter the territory of "explorers". The west coast is wild, dominated by dark rocks and old abandoned silver mines (pure Industrial Archaeology!). Cala dell'Argentiera is perfect for those who love snorkeling and fiery sunsets over the open sea.
- Distance from Villa Malvasio: 30 min.
- Ideal for: Those who hate crowds and love raw nature.
4. The Kilometric One: Platamona 🌲
It is the "beach of the Sassari people". An immense coastline of golden sand kilometers long, behind which extends a cool pine forest and a protected pond. Here you will never have space problems. It is perfect for long regenerating walks, jogging by the sea, or letting children play freely.
Distance from Villa Malvasio: 10-12 min.
5. The Catalan One: Le Bombarde (Alghero) 🪸
Moving south-west, the sand becomes more ochre and the sea intense blue. Le Bombarde is the queen of the Coral Riviera, surrounded by a fragrant pine forest.
- Local Tip: If the Mistral blows (wind from the North-West), run here or to the nearby beach of Mugoni, which always remains sheltered like a swimming pool.
- Distance from Villa Malvasio: 25 min.
