Logistic map of North Sardinia from Villa Malvasio to Alghero and Stintino, showing travel times, safe parking icons and anti-theft tips.

Visiting La Pelosa or Alghero without stress? Discover parking secrets, peak hours, and Villa Malvasio's tips for enjoying North Sardinia’s best beaches.

The sea of Northern Sardinia is paradise, but to fully enjoy it in 2026, you need to know the ground rules. While road conditions are generally excellent, the real challenge is parking. Due to the high influx of tourists—especially in August and on weekends—parking spots fill up in minutes.

Staying at Villa Malvasio gives you a strategic head start, but here are our "insider tips" to ensure your day isn't ruined:

  • Stintino and La Pelosa: The golden rule is to arrive before 9:00 AM. By 11:00 AM, everything is completely saturated. Warning: Parking is expensive, but do not rely on makeshift spots. Fines and car removals are constant and severe—there is no escape.
  • Alghero (Port and Beaches): For a walk in the center, try parking in the harbor area; it is usually free and unpatrolled for much of the year. However, from mid-June to September, it is restricted for boat owners and, from July to mid-September, part of the area is occupied by the carnival and Ferris wheel.
  • Le Bombarde, Lazzaretto, and Mugoni: Always use private parking lots. Roadside parking is not only illegal but also risky for thefts. Vital advice: Do not leave luggage in sight inside the car, especially around the Lazzaretto area.
  • Platamona: Look for the blue-striped zones (pay parking) and try to be there by 10:00 AM to find a spot.

Winter Season: Between November and May, everything changes. Parking is easy to find, often free, and you can enjoy the beaches in absolute silence.

THE VILLA MALVASIO ADVANTAGE: You bypass city traffic and head straight to the coast, with the peace of mind of having your private parking spot waiting for you upon your return.
