The island of Asinara, located off the northwest coast of Sardinia and belonging to the territory of Porto Torres, is a wonderful protected area that includes both a national park and a marine protected area. Its 50 square kilometers are characterized by hills covered with Mediterranean vegetation, unique wildlife including the white donkey, and seabeds rich in life.

The coastline measures 110 kilometers and is characterized by steep cliffs on the western side and sandy beaches and emerging rocks on the eastern side. Among the most beautiful beaches are Sant’Andrea and d’Arena and the famous Cala dei Ponzesi at Punta Sabina.

The island has a very interesting history and has hosted important figures such as Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. Today, the island is home to a Ministry of the Environment and tourist services.
